NCOIL to Consider Resolution Backing State-based Regulation
The National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL) will consider a proposed resolution supporting NCOIL initiatives to preserve state-based oversight of insurance, in the face of pressures from federal and international regulators to take a more international approach to regulation. The resolution supports the U.S. state-based regulatory system and echoes concerns with transparency and access to talks at the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS). It will be discussed during the NCOIL summer meeting to be held in Indianapolis July 16-19.
NCOIL will also be considering numerous other insurance issues impacting the states, including debating model laws to regulate ride-sharing, roofer contracting and professional employer organizations. PIA National Counsel and Director of Regulatory Affairs Jennifer M. Webb will represent PIA at the meeting.
