PIA Action Alert: Repeal the Federal Insurance Office
February 14, 2017

Late in 2016, PIA National issued a press release calling for the repeal of the Federal Insurance Office (FIO) and has continued our advocacy with meetings and a letter to the Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, Jeb Hensarling (R-TX). With Congress poised to significantly roll back key provisions of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the time is right to include a full repeal of the FIO as part of any financial regulatory reform package.

PIA has now sent aGrassroots Action Alert asking independent insurance agents to contact their federal representatives to ask that they support the repeal of the FIO when a Dodd-Frank regulatory reform package moves this Congress. The action alert is on PIA’s website and available to anyone who supports the state regulation of insurance. It is vital for U.S. senators and members of the House to hear from their constituents on this issue.
